Summer 2017 Mangrove Snapper, Permit, Black Drum and Snook are chewin'!
It has been a hot summer. The Sarasota Bay and Reef waters have been hot, averaging 91* in the daytime, so the deeper cuts of water in the bay have been good for speckled trout. Hart's Family Reef has been on fire with Bonnethead Sharks and the occasional Goliath Grouper. I've been cleaning many Mangrove Snapper in the morning trips. The sharks are here too. Nurse sharks and Blacktips are chewing on the reefs, if you can get past the Goliath Grouper. Here is a photo of a pretty Black Drum caught with my cousin Joel Lombardi.
